Adoration

Adorning the highest part of my body,
my crown, with the jewel of your feet,
I recite these words of aspiration and prayer
with my palms folded at my heart.

This is from a painting by Jeffrey Hein called 'For She Loved Much'. Obviously, this is Mary Magdelene at the feet of Christ. I thought this was so fitting with the poem which is actually Buddhist. As the poem says "adorning my crown with the jewels of your feet", this refers to prostrating on the ground before the Adored One. It fits so perfectly with the story of Mary Magdelene, whom Scripture tells us kissed the feet of Christ and cleaned his feet with her tears and hair.
